The Goodness of God Part 2: How Then Shall We Build?

A few days after receiving the revelation about the "Wheat and the Tares", the Lord released the following word continuing this exhortation to focus on all that is good (scripture links came as I meditated on this word):

"Speak only that which is worthy of repeating and that you would want repeated. Words take on a life of their own and they go on - either building up or tearing down (Prov. 18:21). There are some people of discretion who will let a negative word from you bounce off and not pass it on to others. Most, however, absorb negative like a sponge, marinate in it and let it drip all over everyone they come in contact with. Many of those same people will actually deflect the positive things you share. Do not let the disposition of their "receiver" deter you. Share only that which glorifies My goodness and builds up others (Ephesians 4:29).

Deflect the negative that comes your way. You are responsible for what you release. You are also responsible for what you receive. Nothing can be against you because I am for you and I AM working all things together for the good plans and purposes I have for you. Filter everything that comes your way through this truth. My job is to keep the promises of My Word, which I do perfectly. Your job is to believe Me, whether anyone else around you does or not.

Your belief will be counted to you as righteousness. This is My Kingdom: Righteousness, Peace and Joy. In this world, you will find yourself being persecuted for believing and proclaiming My goodness. Better to suffer unjustly for doing what is right than suffering justly for having done what is wrong (1 Peter 3:10-17). Take heart for I have overcome the world! Turn away from the rebellion of your own disbelief and doubt. Do not be influenced by the disbelief of others. Believe Me and enter My rest (Hebrews 3-4)."

As these words have soaked in, I am reminded of some absolutely thought provoking questions posed by Graham Cooke (These are a paraphrase - I highly recommend listening to and reading his material directly):
  • What if we can never be challenged by negative circumstances?
  • What if the only challenge we ever face is believing God is good, faithful and for us in all circumstances?
  • What if every circumstance in our lives exists for the purpose of upgrading our fellowship with God and developing the reality of who we truly are in Christ?
The Lord has reminded me that even difficult things in our lives can be received, framed and shared in ways that build up ourselves and others. Donald Powis had a harrowing experience falling through the ice, but he is sharing it in a way that magnifies God's goodness and builds up others. This is the way to be joyful and give thanks in all circumstances (1 Thess. 5:16-18).

How then shall we build in the course of our days? We believe, act on and live out our lives on the rock of the unquestioned goodness of God. Solid foundation blueprints are found in Matthew 5-7.

“These words I speak to you are not incidental additions to your life, homeowner improvements to your standard of living. They are foundational words, words to build a life on. If you work these words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who built his house on solid rock. Rain poured down, the river flooded, a tornado hit—but nothing moved that house. It was fixed to the rock." (Matt 7:24-25)

“Moses said, ‘Please. Let me see your Glory.’ God said, ‘I will make my Goodness pass right in front of you; I’ll call out the name, God, right before you.’” (Ex 33:18-19a)

Let the whole earth be filled with His glory!
