My name is Kathy Zawacki and I am a beloved daughter of the Most High God. I was born in Chicago but raised with my parents and one older brother in the majestic white pine country of Eagle River in northern Wisconsin. I attended college in Milwaukee and lived in Green Bay for a time - Go Pack! :) I met and married my husband Kevin and have lived in loving covenant with him in the Chippewa Valley of western Wisconsin since 1992. We have been given the honor of raising and stewarding the hearts of our two children, (Matt & Amanda), who are well on their way to becoming amazing young adults in their own right. For many years, my vocational assignments have been in a variety of Business Office roles in the medical field. Recently, the Lord opened doors and invited me into a new career pathway and I am now serving as an assistant in the area of Human Resources. Since 2004, I have had the joy of being in fellowship with the family at Gateway Church in Eau Claire and it is a privilege to grow and serve under our leadership there.
Some things I enjoy include:
- Traveling - exploring new roads, unbeaten paths and new places
- All things Lake Superior!
- Walking/hiking in all varieties of nature
- Taking in sunrises and sunsets - no two are ever the same & I stand in awe of God's limitless artistry and beauty!
- Watching song birds - they bring me great joy!
- Reading, writing & dancing
- Taking in music, theater and fine arts of all kinds
It was in 1994 that I accepted Jesus' invitation to receive His gift of redemption and be restored to relationship with my heavenly Father. Since then, He has awakened many things within me but the greatest passion of all has been to pursue His presence and explore the depths of His heart through His Word, worship, being still before Him and in the everyday activities of life. An outflow of that passion is a strong desire to invite, encourage and activate others to do the same. It is in relationship with God alone that we discover our true identity, purpose and are filled with fullness of life.
The Origin of this blog
This blog has formed out of the desire for others to meet and know their Father in a deeply personal way. Getting to know someone requires spending time with them. As we spend time seeking the heart of God, He fills us with Himself and all He desires to do in and through us. Out of the overflow of that filling, we pour out the goodness of God to others. It's like a dance - a grand ballroom dance. Hence, the name of the blog - "Notes From the Ballroom". It is the rhythm of heaven. The "Dance" is shared in more detail in the post, "The Invitation".
Ways God Speaks
It is out of this rhythm of heaven the posts of this blog will flow. In my statement of beliefs, found in "Fundamentals", I share that I believe God still speaks to us directly. It has been my experience that He is constantly releasing creative ways to share His heart with us. His methods of communication are endless but His purpose centers around revealing the goodness of His character and nature, who He is for us and who we truly are in Him.
Ways I experience and hear the Lord include:
- His written Word - The Bible. This is first and foremost and serves as the filter and confirmation for all others.
- His spoken Word within me - that still, small voice
- Dreams
- Visions - We have heard it said, "A picture is worth a thousand words". Visions are language and are a part of the gift of discernment (1 Corinthians 12:3-11). They are a form of communication from God to help us discern and understand something from His perspective in the Kingdom of heaven that we may not see or understand from our perspective in this world.
- Movies, music, books, theater, etc. - He speaks powerfully through the arts
- The lives of those around me in the everyday experiences of life - this includes marriage, caring for the home, work, in the marketplace, and the day to day interactions with our children as we've raised them.
- Observing His creation/nature
What to Expect
So what can be expected as we journey together?
- Encouragement - hopefully loads of encouragement!
- Teaching through real life analogies
- Revelations of God's heart toward us, His nature, and how He desires to live in and through us. These will be both present and prophetic in nature. They may have personal, Church Body, community, national or international implications. I have often found they are some combination of these.
- Above all, expect the unexpected! This is life with an infinite, limitless, uncontainable God! We will discover together what He wants to impart to us. Life with God is an adventure so let's buckle up and enjoy the ride as He takes us down new roads into the depths of His heart!
